Linked accounts

Linked accounts let one EDGR user (a viewer) see and manage another user’s (the subject’s) data. This is designed for couples, or any situation where one person tracks activity on another’s behalf. The subject stays in full control and can remove the link at any time.

How it works

  1. The subject sends an invitation to the viewer’s username from Account settings . The person who sends the invite becomes the subject; the person who receives it becomes the viewer.
  2. The viewer receives a notification and can accept or decline. If they decline, the subject can send a new request. There’s no cooldown.
  3. Once accepted, the viewer can switch to the subject’s view from the account switcher in the dashboard header.
  4. The subject can see all their linked viewers in Account settings and remove any link from there. Removal is immediate.

What a viewer can do

By default, viewers have the same access as the subject. They can:

  • View all events, sessions, habits, tasks, and journals
  • Log events and start, pause, and stop sessions
  • Log habits
  • Create, resolve, and close tasks
  • View and configure the subject’s dashboard (viewers have their own separate layout)

This is intentional. The viewer often needs to act on the subject’s behalf in full.

The viewer’s own data stays completely separate. Viewing a subject’s data doesn’t mix your events and sessions with theirs. You switch between your own data and the subject’s using the account switcher.

What a viewer cannot do

  • View or change the subject’s sensitive account data (email, password, timezone)
  • Delete the subject’s account
  • Manage the subject’s linked accounts
  • Create or delete public sharing links

Notifications

When a viewer acts on behalf of a subject, EDGR sends notifications to the right people:

  • The subject gets a notification: “your partner logged X for you”
  • The viewer who acted doesn’t get a notification for their own action

You can manage which notifications you receive in Account settings.

Dashboard for viewers

Viewers have their own independent dashboard layout. Editing it as a viewer doesn’t affect the subject’s layout.
